A peaceful view of Brighton beach at sunset, with gentle waves touching the pebbled shore. Life is beautiful

A Moment by the Water

I’m sitting on a towel laid over the pebbles of Brighton Beach, right by the edge where the waves kiss the shore. Every time the sea pulls back and pushes forward, I feel a soft splash of saltwater on my skin. And in that moment, I remember that life is beautiful. The sun is starting to dip now. It’s almost 7 PM, and the brightness from earlier is gently fading. The sky has softened.

In the distance, I can see my children playing, their laughter carried in the breeze. A group of teens are splashing about in the water. Seagulls are gliding across the sky above me. I don’t know where they’re heading, but watching them fly feels like watching freedom.

And at this moment, I feel it.

Life is beautiful, and I’m learning that it’s often the simple things that remind us of that truth.

Some of us start life with hardship. Some meet difficulty toward the end. And others are lucky enough to walk an easier path from beginning to end. But right now, none of that matters. Right now, I’m sitting here, breathing, watching, feeling, and I realise how beautiful life can be.

We spend so much time running, fixing, chasing, surviving. But beauty is still here. It’s in the sound of waves. It’s in the laughter of children. It’s in a simple moment of stillness.

If life allows you even just a few quiet minutes, try to take them. Sit somewhere peaceful. Watch the sky. Listen to the wind or the birds or the waves. These small things can bring calm, even in the middle of chaos.

I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but today, right now, I’m grateful to be alive. And that’s enough to remind me that life is beautiful.
